• How quickly does Botox® Cosmetic take effect? Optimal results are usually seen in approximately two weeks.

• How long does the effect from Botox® Cosmetic last? Generally, Botox® Cosmetic lasts for three to four months, but may last as long as six months. The more treatments you have, the longer the effects last.

• Is the procedure painful? Will I need anesthesia? To most people, the injections have a similar sensation to a bug bite. No anesthesia is required.

• Are there any adverse reactions to the procedure? The injection site may look red for the first two to three hours after the procedure. The areas may be covered with makeup. Rarely, people may get a headache, cold- or flu-like symptoms, headaches, or asymmetry. Patients taking Aspirin therapy or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) may have bruising.

• Who should not have Botox® Cosmetic injections? Patients who are pregnant or nursing, under 18 years of age, allergic to benzyl alcohol, have a neuromuscular disease, or who are taking aminoglycoside medications (streptomycin, Neomycin, Gentamycin) should not receive Botox ® Cosmetic injections.
